Description: A young lady is looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to support her around the home with household organisation, planning & tasks and getting out and about into the community including being more active.
Duties to include: Assistance with organisation of daily life including home organisation, laundry aspects, groceries / home needs planning and shopping. Support to access the community around the local area and attending places of interest as the young lady can become anxious on her own in different places. Support to being more active such as going on walks and community engagement attending local activity groups such as pilates and art. Support to attend different medical appointments and follow up on advice and guidance in liaison with appointee. Some prompts with personal care & medication reminders but no requirements to assist with this. There is no requirement for a driver as the young person drives and has their own car.
Applicants must be: Forward thinking, patient, reliable and trustworthy. To have the ability to know when to offer support/guidance and when to let the young lady find their own way forward. Supporting the young person’s independence alongside, enabling and encouraging as opposed to doing for her. The young person does not have a learning disability, is university level educated but requires support to independent living and the approach needs to reflect this. Some knowledge of Autism and associated difficulties are an advantage although any training will be provided. The young person has sensory sensitivities (smell, sound, light, touch) so the applicant must be able to be sensitive to this and consider these aspects in interactions / community activities.
Hours: 12 hours per week across a Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am-2pm though twice weekly for a longer period may also be acceptable. The young person works on a Tuesday & Thursday.
Wage: £ 12.21 per hour
All successful applicants will undergo an enhanced DBS check and references, all training needs will be arranged with the employer.
