A Vacancy at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and dynamic Trauma Orthopaedic Therapy Teams at Poole Hospital.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our team and you will have past experience in Orthopaedic physiotherapy. The team is passionate about teaching and development.

The post holder will be primarily based in the Trauma Orthopaedic Therapy Team working on the wards of a Major Trauma Unit, within the Wessex Trauma Network. The post will involve working with service users with a range of complex presentations including Fractured Neck of Femur, Multi-trauma and Spinal fractures.

This position is for a permanent full time Senior Physiotherapist within Trauma Orthopaedic therapy. The role will be based at Poole Hospital initially before services move to Bournemouth in Jan 2026. Working patterns will vary but will be across 7 days, include some evening, bank holidays and respiratory on-call as rostered.

Base Location: Poole Hospital/Bournemouth Hospital

The therapy team has been integral to recent service developments, including the implementation of new therapy pathways and excellent multidisciplinary teamwork. On-going work on the Trust’s transformation of services will provide exciting developmental opportunities in the future, working towards the team’s move to Royal Bournemouth site in the future.

You will be highly organised and have the ability to independently manage a busy clinical caseload. You will be involved in staff supervision and training, quality improvement projects and service development. You will be forward thinking, flexible in your approach to work and have excellent communication skills. You will flourish in the team environment and have well developed supervision skills. Support of junior staff is an important aspect of this position. You will have previous experience of working as a Physiotherapist, across a variety of clinical areas as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the physiotherapy assessment and treatment of a range of clinical conditions. You will be well supported by your fellow Physiotherapy colleagues and necessary training will be provided.

Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. They underpin everything we do now and in the future. They define how we treat our patients, visitors, and each other, our valued teammates and colleagues. UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme. This means that some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or long term. Recruiting Managers interviewing for this role will be happy to answer any specific questions that you have about this at interview.

This service has a planned move from Poole site to Bournemouth site in 2026
