“This school provides a strong and enriched education. Pupils thrive because the school has high academic ambitions for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The school’s vision, ‘life in all its fullness’, is deeply embedded in the life of the school. Pupils enjoy their learning and develop curiosity about the world around them.” Ofsted May 2024
St John the Baptist Church of England Junior School is a two form entry junior school in Hampton Wick. Our School Vision of “Life in all its fullness” is at the heart of all we do in order to provide our children with the best opportunities; academically, socially, personally and spiritually. We are seeking to appoint a creative and resourceful Teaching and Learning Support Assistant with a commitment to supporting children to achieve their full potential.
St John’s has excellent transport links, with Hampton Wick mainline station within a 5 minute walk, and many bus routes with regular services to the surrounding areas. We have a dedicated staff car park and plenty of secure cycle racks.
This is a role where the successful candidate will work with children across the school with a range of needs, including individual pupils with Education Health Care Plans, therefore experience of working with children with special educational needs and a proven ability to support children’s learning is desirable. Excellent organisational and communication skills, as well as being a driven individual who will support colleagues and contribute to our Christian vision and values are essential.
What St. John’s can offer you:
A passion and commitment to support you in living life in all its fullness; striking the balance between work and home life and helping you to sustain your love for teaching
A close-knit staff team who are willing to muck in and support one another
As one of our School Values, a school culture which is committed to growth – both the personal growth of individuals and the growth of our practice as a school
Children who are polite and well-mannered, who are proud of their school and who regularly receive glowing comments from those they encounter on trips and sporting events
A caring, inclusive and collaborative whole school community
Great location, close to the Thames, Bushy Park, and both Teddington and Kingston towns
What we are looking for in the next member of the team:
Someone committed to the Christian ethos of our school, where Christian values underpin our every decision and interaction;
Someone committed to nurturing and inspiring every child to live life in all its fullness, both now and in the future, seeking to build on our established successful, inclusive practices in what we believe is a crucial area of a child’s primary school experience;
Someone who is committed to growing in their practice - willing to try new things and learn with us as we explore how we can better enable every child to flourish;
Someone who wants the best for everyone, and has the passion and commitment to work with the staff team to realise this vision in our school community;
Someone who is able to nurture both children’s and adult’s talents and help them to grow;
Someone who is, or demonstrates the capacity to become, a brilliant Teaching and Learning Support Assistant – able to nurture children’s talents and help them make excellent academic progress
