Are you passionate about supporting children and families to thrive both in and out of the classroom? Queen Eleanor’s C of E Junior School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Home School Link Worker to join our team. This is a vital role focused on building strong relationships with families, promoting pupil well-being, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed through positive home-school partnerships. If you’re enthusiastic about making a real difference in the lives of young people and their families, we’d love to hear from you.
About Us:
Queen Eleanor's C of E Junior School is an Ofsted Good-rated (Jan 2023) Academy, based in Guildford. Our school is a large community junior school, set in three acres of leafy suburbs of the town, with excellent transport links both to A3 and in walking distance of the Central Rail station.
Your opportunity
The Home School Link Worker will play a crucial role in supporting the well-being, safety, and academic success of pupils by acting as a bridge between home and school. As a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), the postholder will work closely with school staff, families, and external agencies to identify and address barriers to learning, improve attendance and punctuality, and provide early intervention and tailored support to vulnerable pupils and their families. The role also involves facilitating parenting groups, conducting home visits, and contributing to safeguarding meetings, while promoting positive transitions and long-term engagement with school and community life.
What we are looking for
A strong background in supporting vulnerable families, including experience as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with families, staff, and external agencies.
Experience in improving attendance and punctuality, and the ability to interpret and use data to support pupil outcomes.
A passion for supporting children’s well-being and removing barriers to learning, with a proactive and compassionate approach.
Confident, self-motivated, and well-organised, with a positive attitude and commitment to professional development.
What We Offer
A school that is fully dedicated to developing every child to reach their full potential, irrespective of their ability or background.
A competitive salary
A dedicated and friendly team of professionals who are keen to develop and learn.
Excellent CPD opportunities to grow and develop.
A genuine commitment to staff wellbeing and work/life balance.
Local Government Pension Scheme
Employee Assistance Programme
Supportive leadership team.
Please note that the school reserves the right to interview suitable candidates prior to the application closing date. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced level DBS check.
Safeguarding Statement: The Good Shepherd Trust and Queen Eleanor’s Junior School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We ensure that all our employment practices reflect this commitment.
