As a Senior Planning Officer, you will make a significant contribution towards the preparation, monitoring, and review of Development Plan Documents, working with stakeholders to deliver sustainable development. Ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping Wiltshire’s communities and future landscape.

For this role, you will need to have significant experience working as a planning officer within the public or private sector, including mentoring junior members of staff, and some experience of representing an organisation at a planning inquiry or examination in public.

Skills, Knowledge & experience required

Strong working knowledge of the UK planning system and plan-making processes.
Relevant degree in planning or a related subject, or equivalent experience in a planning-related role.
RTPI-accredited qualification (e.g. Diploma or Master’s in Town Planning).
Proficient in Microsoft Office, databases, and GIS tools.
Significant experience as a planning officer, including appeals and/or local plan examinations.
Confident working in a political environment and handling sensitive matters professionally.
Excellent research, report writing, and project management skills.
