As a Nursery Cook you will be Making a Positive Impact on Children's Lives. You play a crucial role in providing nutritious, delicious meals that fuel young minds and bodies. You’re helping children develop healthy eating habits and ensuring they have the energy to learn, play, and grow every day.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and prepare healthy, balanced meals and snacks for children, following the Government’s "Eat Out Start Well" guidelines.
Ensure meals cater to dietary preferences, religious requirements, and allergies.
Manage food deliveries and stock; performing stock checks and placing food orders weekly.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen, adhering to strict food hygiene and safety standards, using the Safer Food Better Business for Caterers Handbook.
Complete all necessary paperwork, including daily food safety documentation and temperature checks.
Communicate sensitively and effectively with staff and children about meal contents.
To establish and sustain a collaborative and cooperative working relationship between colleagues.
Ensure that the kitchen is clean and clear by the end of the shift
Optional: General Housekeeping duties such as laundry, light cleaning and garden maintenance
Requirements:
Previous experience in a kitchen or food service role is essential
A current Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Food Hygiene.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
A passion for nutritious food and promoting healthy eating habits.
This is a part-time role of 20 (4 hours per day) with the option of adding 5 hours to undertake housekeeping duties. You will play a vital role in the nursery's operation, ensuring our children receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in a clean and safe environment.
Successful candidates will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure. Please note that it is an offence to apply for a role in regulated activity if barred from working with children.
