We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer for a futuristic position. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, IMS, RACF, and REXX, with a strong background in both batch and online processing. This role involves working across the full software development lifecycle and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and secure solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into functional application components.
Design, code, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and CICS.
Develop and optimize DB2 and IMS DB/DC access logic for high-performance data processing.
Work with VSAM files and structures for batch and online processing.
Use REXX scripting for automation and utility development.
Implement and maintain security standards using RACF.
Perform root cause analysis and resolution of production incidents.
Participate in performance tuning and optimization of applications and batch jobs.
Document system changes, create technical specifications, and ensure compliance with change control procedures.
Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure quality and operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in IBM mainframe development environments.
Proficient in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, IMS DB/DC, REXX, and RACF.
Strong understanding of mainframe security practices and user access management.
Hands-on experience with TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and common mainframe utilities.
Familiarity with debugging and performance tools such as Abend-AID, Fault Analyzer, XPEDITER, or IBM Debug Tool.
Experience with job scheduling tools like CA7, Control-M, or equivalent.
Knowledge of version control and deployment tools such as Endevor or Changeman.
Understanding of SDLC (Waterfall, Agile) and ITIL processes.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Experience in modernizing mainframe applications or integrating with distributed/cloud systems.
Knowledge of MQ Series or other message queuing systems.
Familiarity with z/OSMF, Zowe, or APIs for mainframe modernization.
Understanding of data masking, encryption, and compliance standards like PCI-DSS or HIPAA.
Background in sectors such as banking, insurance, government, or healthcare.
