You will be
• Working as part of a team to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the sites
is kept at a high standard
• This role involves working outside for the majority of the time, all year.
Job role
• Maintaining the site landscaping to a high standard
• Maintaining lawns, trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers
• Operating and maintaining hand and power tools
• Operating and maintaining lawn mowing and other equipment
• Keeping grounds free from litter and debris
• Weeding
• Watering of lawns, trees and plants
• Leaf and debris blowing and collecting
• General DIY tasks as required from time to time
• Jet washing slabs, building etc
• Snow clearing and gritting in winter months
• Able to work flexibly and some overtime where required
• The role involves frequent standing, walking, reaching and carrying
• Some care of the wildlife on site may be required (eg; hedgehogs/bees/rabbits)
• Maintain an area where biodiversity is of key importance
Essential skills
• Driving license
• Happy to work outside in all seasons
• Awareness of health and safety practises
• An interest in maintaining sustainable work spaces

Training: Delivery to be completed on site and off the job training either at Barnsley College or your place of work. Student to complete a Horticulture or landscape construction operative level 2 Apprenticeship.
Working week: Mon – Fri / 9am – 5pm during initial apprenticeship
