Facilities Technician (Plumbing, Steam & Pipework)
We are recruiting for a Facilities Technician (Plumbing, Steam & Pipework) to join our engineering team in Market Drayton.
As a Facility Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of water, steam, compressed air and
process pipework systems across the site.
You will carry out scheduled and reactive mechanical and pipefitting works including welding and fabrication and support critical
utilities and infrastructure required for daily production operations and site safety compliance

Location and shifts: Market Drayton
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Key Accountabilities:
* Carry out installation, repair, and modification of pipework systems (including copper, stainless steel, ABS, PVC, and
galvanised).
* Maintain and service steam systems, traps, valves, condensate lines, and lagging where required.
* Perform welding and basic metal fabrication tasks as required to repair or install pipe supports, brackets, and utility
frames.
* Ensure all welding work is carried out safely and to an acceptable quality standard.
* Assist with the upkeep of utilities such as water, steam, compressed air, and drainage systems.
* Ensure plant and equipment is safe, efficient, and compliant with health, safety, and environmental standards.
* Respond to mechanical or water/steam-related breakdowns as a priority.
* Diagnose faults, carry out effective repairs, and log details in the CMMS (HolisTech).
* Produce and manage permits to work for plumbing or welding contractors, reviewing RAMS for suitability.
* Supervise and ensure contractor compliance with site procedures.
* Support the development and delivery of PPM routines on steam, water, and mechanical systems.
* Ensure all work is logged in HolisTech and completed within allocated schedules.
* Support site projects involving utility upgrades, line moves or new equipment installations.
* Ensure work is delivered safely to a high standard and with minimal impact to production.
* Adhere to regulations relating to pressure systems, water hygiene (Legionella), welding safety and confined space entry where
applicable.
* Contribute to maintaining a safe and compliant site infrastructure.
* Support with energy / utility saving initiatives for water, steam, and air.
* Support insurers with legislative inspections.
* L8 awareness for legionella control and compliance.
* Knowledge of WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) and water regulations compliance.
* Daily handovers to be completed by end of shift with Engineering managers, breakdowns, issues outstanding and issues in
progress to be communicated.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Experience
* Experienced Pipefitter / Plumber / Mechanical Engineer with a background in manufacturing or industrial facilities.
* Knowledge of hot and cold water systems, steam pipework, valves, pumps, and associated control systems.
* Experience in welding and general fabrication an advantage but not essential
* Understanding of water hygiene and Legionella control best practices.
* Familiarity with reading and interpreting pipework schematics and mechanical drawings.
* CMMS system experience preferred (e.g., HolisTech).
* Qualifications
* Level 2 or 3 qualification in Plumbing, Pipefitting or Mechanical Engineering.
* Welding certification or proven welding experience to industry standard.
* Confined space and hot work training preferred
Key Skills
* Good fault-finding and mechanical problem-solving ability.
* Strong understanding of site utilities and their importance to food production operations.
* Good computer literacy and capable of updating CMMS systems.
* Able to prioritise workloads and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Strong communication and reporting skills
Qualities
* Practical, hands-on approach.
* Demonstrates job ownership and attention to detail.
* Flexible and responsive to changing demands and breakdowns.
