Facilities Technician (Electrician)

We are recruiting for a Facilities Technician (Electrician) to join our engineering team in Market Drayton.

As a Facility Technician, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems
and equipment across the site. You will carry out scheduled and reactive electrical work, including fault finding, ad hoc PAT
testing, and emergency lighting maintenance. Additionally, you'll support the electrical aspects of plant operations, assist with
breakdowns, and contribute to energy-saving initiatives.

Location and shifts: Market Drayton

Salary: £45,000 per annum



Key Accountabilities:

* Monitor plant systems for faults and act promptly to rectify issues, minimising disruption to production.
* Produce and manage electrical permits for contractors, ensuring RAMS are appropriate.
* Monitor contractor work, ensuring compliance with site H&S and electrical safety protocols.
* Respond to electrical breakdowns on plant equipment as a priority.
* Accurately diagnose faults and carry out repairs to restore operations.
* Record breakdown resolution in the CMMS (HolisTech) system.
* Carry out small-scale electrical installations, upgrades, or modifications in accordance with IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
* Ensure all new installations are tested, documented, and compliant.
* Support the annual PAT testing contract by testing new items or those missed during scheduled inspections.
* Ensure testing is logged and compliant with relevant safety standards.
* Conduct scheduled emergency lighting tests and carry out necessary repairs in line with safety regulations.
* Maintain logs and ensure timely fault rectification.
* Assist in the development and implementation of the PPM schedule for electrical systems in HolisTech.
* Ensure completion of tasks and accurate CMMS logging.
* Support and implement energy-saving measures across site.
* Work with Engineering and Facilities teams to identify and deliver opportunities for reducing energy consumption
* Assist the site team in planning and executing electrical elements of projects.
* Ensure high standards of workmanship, safety, and minimal disruption to production.
* Support Engineering and Facilities teams with broader site responsibilities as required. This could include but is not limited
to:
* Fire alarm testing
* Boiler checks
* Permitting and overseeing contractors
* Fabric repairs (e.g., lighting fixtures, sockets, containment systems)
* Complete handovers with Engineering Managers at the end of each shift, highlighting completed work, outstanding issues, and
ongoing tasks.



Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Experience

* Fully qualified Electrician with industrial experience.
* Minimum Level 3 Electrical qualification (City & Guilds 2330/2365 or equivalent).
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certified.
* Experience of electrical maintenance in a food manufacturing or similar high-demand environment.
* Skilled in electrical fault finding and breakdown repairs.
* Familiarity with inverters, motor control systems, and control panels.
* Experience with PAT testing and emergency lighting systems.
* CMMS system experience preferred.


Key Skills

* Good literacy and numeracy.
* Competent in MS Office and CMMS systems (e.g., HolisTech).
* Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability.
* Prioritises tasks effectively, especially in breakdown situations.
* Good communication skills for conveying instructions and reporting issues.
* Works well in a team and independently.
* Able to interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
