The Catering Manager will support the Key Account Manager by providing strategic direction for all food services across the site, including retail outlets, back-of-house operations, and patient feeding.

Job Description

The retail section operates Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm, with an average daily footfall of 100–140 customers.

The site covers approximately 200 beds and includes a small coffee shop located at Bolsover Street. Weekly or monthly visits between the main site and Bolsover Street are required, but a driver’s license is not necessary.

You will oversee the day-to-day operations of retail outlets, patient feeding, back-of-house, and private patient services, ensuring a high-quality catering experience for patients, staff, and visitors.

Maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient environment aligned with specifications is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Manage staffing and competence levels across the food service team.
Maintain accurate records including costings, sickness, quality monitoring, training, and staff performance.
Conduct regular meetings and discussions with management staff on performance and welfare.
Supervise, train, motivate, and discipline staff, ensuring safety and welfare.
Organise and allocate staff to deliver catering services according to work schedules and quality standards.
Plan and coordinate food ordering based on historical data and menu cycles.
Control and monitor inventory of food, uniforms, equipment, and materials needed by the team.


Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

Proven experience managing catering or hospitality operations, ideally in healthcare.
Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build relationships, especially with clinical teams and dietitians.
Knowledge of food safety, service quality, and operational efficiency.
Comfortable leading systems change and operational improvements.
Full budget and financial reporting responsibility.
Strong leadership to manage large, diverse teams across patient feeding and retail.
Relevant certifications preferred; training provided if needed.
