Long Term Futures are looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in LE18, Leicestershire, which supports fewer than 100 pupils aged 4-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
As a Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support, you will play a vital role in providing personalised support to students in a small, nurturing environment. You'll work closely with teaching staff to help pupils manage their behaviour, develop essential social skills, and engage positively with their learning.
Key Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support Role:
- Deliver 1-1 and group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Support students in managing their emotions and behaviours using calm, consistent approaches.
- Help maintain a safe and supportive environment where students feel valued.
- Collaborate with the school team to develop and follow personalised learning and behaviour plans.
- Encourage pupils to build confidence, independence, and key life skills.
- Promote positive behaviour and help students overcome barriers to learning.
What We're Looking For in a Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support:
- Experience working with children who have SEMH or special educational needs (SEN).
- A background in working in any capacity with children/young people is essential ,Youth Work, Sports Coach, Teaching Assistant, Residential Care, Social Work, Probation Worker or Youth Offending.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
