Job Description
Post Title: Forestry Officer
Location: Inverness
Hours: 35 hours per week
Duration: Fixed Term - 2 Years (With Possibility of Extension)
Salary: £38,474 - £41,714 p.a.
Salary placing will normally be at the first point of the scale.

Job Purpose: You will provide forestry advice to the planning service and developers to secure the best outcomes for trees, woodland and forestry in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and guidance. You will provide advice on a range of development proposals affecting trees and woodland impacted by development, with a focus on major and national developments.
As part of a wider team you will contribute to designating and managing Tree Preservation Orders, developing policy and assisting in preparing responses to local and national consultations as required. You will also respond to enquiries relating to trees and forestry from Council services, elected Members, developers and the public.

Requirements
- A recognised qualification to degree level in arboriculture, forestry, environmental science or a related discipline.
- Practical experience of working on planning and related tree, woodland and forestry casework and proven ability to take a proportionate and balanced view on tree, woodland and forestry matters and competing interests in a planning
- A full UK driving licence or access to transport
