About the roles

Greater Manchester is leading the way in devolution, shaping new approaches to governance and public service delivery. Our ambition is to improve the lives of all who live and work in the city region, ensuring they have access to opportunities for health, wellbeing, and prosperity.

It is an exciting time to work in communications in Greater Manchester, where our vision for the future is built around inclusive growth, sustainability, and social impact. These three roles within the Communications and Engagement team will play a key part in supporting a broad range of strategic priorities:

Role 1: Two Communications and Engagement Senior Officers supporting the Place, Public Service Reform, and Environment directorate.

We are looking for two skilled and motivated communications professionals to help tell the story of our workfrom achieving net zero by 2038 and increasing the supply of quality homes, to tackling rough sleeping and raising housing standards. You'll also help bring to life our efforts to support people at every stage of life, from children and young people to older residents, while promoting our thriving culture, night time economy, and vibrant communities. This role offers a varied and dynamic workload that reflects the depth and diversity of projects and partnerships across the city-region.

Role 2: Communications and Engagement Senior Officer supporting the Connected Homes, Inclusive Places project.

This new role is focused on delivering connected homes projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with public and industry partners to explore how digital connectivity can benefit Greater Manchester residents and drive initiatives within the social housing sector.

Key responsibilities include coordinating resident and stakeholder engagement across project partners and developing the project's narrative in line with the Greater Manchester Digital Blueprint's goal of creating connected, inclusive, and sustainable places. This outward-facing, dynamic, and fast-paced role will contribute to achieving high-profile GMCA ambitions.

The roles are all fixed term for nine months but could be extended beyond this term.

Collaboration is at the heart of our approach. The successful postholders will help to build and nurture relationships across GMCA, as well as with external stakeholders including local authorities, government bodies, community groups, and businesses. By working together, we can deliver meaningful change for the 3 million residents who call Greater Manchester home.
