So, what will the role involve?
We are currently seeking four part-time Communications Assistants to support the Communications Managers within the team, offering wide-ranging experience in public sector communications. You will be involved in story generation and promotion, both internally and externally, supporting the Communications Managers in handling media enquiries and interview requests, shooting and editing video, podcasting, generating content for social media platforms and generally supporting the wider Communications team on a variety of administrative tasks.
You will support one of the four Communications Managers for the Salford School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology (SAMCT), the Salford School of Health and Society (SHS), the Salford School of Science, Engineering and the Environment (SEE) or the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Team (RKE).
You will be expected to contribute ideas and solutions during team discussions and planning meetings and will support the Communications Managers on multiple projects. You must be attending the University of Salford as a student for the full duration of the 2025/26 academic year with a good knowledge of the media landscape and a desire to learn in a stimulating and creative environment. You will promote creativity whilst ensuring quality, consistency and efficiency in all areas of media and PR activity.
In return for your expertise, we offer a supportive environment, competitive terms and the opportunity to make a real difference. All appointments will be made on merit, and as an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. In recognition of our commitment to create a diverse team that draws from our widest talent pool we would particularly encourage applications from groups who are currently under-represented, which in this case would be applicants from minoristised ethnic backgrounds. We offer flexible working patterns, enabling our colleagues to accommodate work life balance.
If you’ve got further questions, please contact Loughlan Campbell (SAMCT) at l.r.campbell@salford.ac.uk, Roisin Schofield (SHS) at r.l.schofield@salford.ac.uk, Samuel Wood (SEE) at s.e.wood@salford.ac.uk or Elizabeth O’Brien (RKE) at e.c.obrien@salford.ac.uk for an informal chat.
