We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Teacher of Geography & Humanities for a full-time position starting this September at a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Wakefield. Essential Requirements

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Geography (KS3-KS4 essential; KS5 desirable).
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

  • Ability to differentiate for a range of learners.
  • Creative and engaging lesson planning.
  • Strong assessment and feedback techniques.
  • Data-driven teaching approaches.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • High standards of personal organisation.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging Geography and Humanities lessons.
  • Teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of some KS5.
  • Assessing and tracking student progress in line with school policy.
  • Creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Contributing to department meetings and collaborative planning.
  • Leading or supporting curriculum enrichment activities or trips.
  • Using data effectively to inform teaching and interventions.
  • Communicating with parents and carers on student progress.
  • Adhering to safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Embedding cross-curricular links between Geography and other Humanities subjects.
