Job Title – Workshop Production Manager Line Manager: CEO
• Jennyruth Workshops is a charity operating a workshop where adults who have learning disabilities (referred to as our ‘workers’) are supported by staff and volunteers to create a range of high-quality handcrafted gifts. We have woodwork, painting and other craft workshop areas, alongside packing and training facilities.
The Role
We are looking for someone who will be responsible for the day-to-day smooth and safe running of all production processes, including: ordering raw materials; managing workflows through woodwork, paintshop and packaging, ensuring that quality is maintained throughout; taking responsibility for health and safety; and generally overseeing a smooth production process.
Job Description
The workshop production manager will:
• Ensure that all parts of the workshops are operating safely, efficiently and in a coordinated manner.
• Manage c. 10 TBC staff, including day-to-day line management and conducting annual appraisals once settled into the role.
• Organise workflows and workloads, to ensure that appropriate stocks are maintained, being mindful of the needs of the adults who have learning disabilities who attend the workshops, the staff, and volunteers.
• Regularly spend time in each part of the workshop, to gain and maintain familiarity with all aspects of the operation to ensure continued best practices.
• Ensure that the workshops are kept clean and tidy and that Health & Safety guidelines are followed.
• Maintain appropriate stock levels for raw materials and finished goods.
• Oversee quality control for finished goods.
• Liaise with suppliers.
• Work and communicate closely with the CEO – initially with a degree of shadowing but increasingly independent over time.
• Join in with the other activities that contribute to the successful operation of Jennyruth Workshops: e.g., attending staff meetings, sales events, …
• To attend any training courses deemed appropriate as required.
• Carry out any reasonable request of the CEO
