GRS provides operational delivery as well as specialist expertise and looks for new, innovative solutions to improve the recruitment process and experience.
A majority of government departments use one or more of our services to advertise, attract, sift, select and assess candidates at delegated grade and Senior Civil Servant (SCS) level.
We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic communications professional to join us in the Cabinet Office. This is a permanent role based within the Government People Group (GPG) which exists to work with departments, professions and functions to build a skilled, modern and effective Civil Service.
You’ll be working within a multi-disciplinary team of strategists, programme and project specialists, as well as communications professionals, who support a variety of programmes and teams delivering and improving recruitment across government.
The work that we support aims to help the Civil Service recruit with increased efficiency and effectiveness, providing a better experience for candidates and hiring managers and better outcomes for the Civil Service, such as reducing the time and cost to recruit.
Key to the role of Internal Communications Manager is the ability to build awareness, understanding and support for the future direction of recruitment, both within the Cabinet Office and across government, through high quality content and regular engagement.
You will also be responsible for managing a small group of correspondence professionals who handle candidate complaints, Freedom of Information Requests, Subject Access Requests and Parliamentary Questions on behalf of the Government Recruitment Service.
Role responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering communications plans to support the range of recruitment transformation activity taking place;
- Creating engaging and impactful written and visual content for a variety of channels, including: staff newsletters, blogs, websites and social media;
- Coordinating a monthly recruitment network call and newsletter to keep stakeholders across government up-to-date on the latest developments;
- Issuing internal communications to staff, supporting Senior Leadership visibility and ensuring our staff are kept up-to-date on what’s happening;
- Supporting senior leaders and programme colleagues to develop and refine content, advising on the best channels to use where required;
- Line managing the GRS Correspondence Team and overseeing the delivery of high quality and timely responses;
- Writing compelling content for a variety of audiences and stakeholders;
- Identifying and developing engaging content and materials, drawing from the range of activity happening across recruitment transformation;
- Organising and coordinating regular communication forums and facilitating timely and relevant content for a variety of channels;
- Communicating technical information in a simple and engaging way;
- Building and sustaining productive relationships with stakeholders;
- Supporting the development and delivery of accurate and timely materials in response to complaints, FOIs, SARs and PQs, with the political nous to horizon scan and anticipate handling issues;
- Supporting large-scale events and media responses where required.
