This is an exciting opportunity within an award-winning Communications and Engagement team at the heart of local government. In this pivotal role, you will provide specialist corporate, stakeholder and workforce communications and engagement at managerial level. This includes the delivery of strategies related to Greater Manchester’s devolution trailblazer deal and associated organisational change activities.
Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Senior Manager (Corporate Communications), you will support key stakeholders such as the Group Chief Executive, Mayor, Deputy Mayor and senior leaders. You will also work closely with counterparts at Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and Transport for Greater Manchester to ensure messaging and corporate communications are aligned as part of our Three Organisations, One Team ethos.
You will offer expert corporate and internal communications advice and will work closely with directorate and policy-focused teams to aid delivery. A core area of focus will be on complex or high-profile issues such as making sure the devolution powers driving our work are recognised and understood by colleagues, partners and the public.
Varied content creation such as video and copywriting (including in the first person) is a key element to this role.
Join us to be part of a forward-thinking team dedicated to making a positive impact for our city-region.

Hybrid working
This role is part of GMCA’s hybrid working scheme. As part of our commitment to ‘Build Back Fairer’ in Greater Manchester following the Covid-19 pandemic, we have evolved our management methods by trusting and empowering staff to deliver their work in the best way that suits the business and their individual needs, and supports health and wellbeing. Our hybrid working policy sets out a flexible approach, combining attendance at our [Manchester city centre office / Fire and Rescue service HQ in Swinton / other location] with remote working, typically from home; the location of work is primarily dictated by the needs of the business: ‘Do what is right for you and the business on that day’. If appointed to the role you will work with your manager to agree and regularly review the best working pattern for you, your team and your work.
