Sous Chef – £19,600 | 30 Hours per Week | Alternate Weekends | Care Home for Older Adults
Support, lead, and make a difference—one meal at a time.

Our client, a friendly and well-established small care home for older adults, is looking for a skilled and compassionate Sous Chef to join their kitchen team. This is a rewarding opportunity to bring comfort and care to residents through high-quality, nutritious meals in a calm, home-from-home environment.

If you’re an experienced chef from a care home or similar setting, and you understand the importance of tailored diets and food textures, this role could be your perfect fit.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working as a chef in a care home or health and social care environment.
  • Good knowledge of older adults’ dietary needs, allergies, and texture-modified foods.
  • A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum).
  • Reliable, organised, and able to take initiative.
  • A team player with a caring, respectful approach to residents and colleagues.
  • Passionate about good food and making a positive impact every day.

Perks and Benefits:

  • Blue Light Card – access discounts across major retailers and services
  • Company pension scheme
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Clear career progression paths
  • Long service awards to celebrate your dedication
  • Staff recognition and appreciation programmes
  • Access to a staff benefits portal for discounts, wellbeing support, and more

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assisting the Head Chef in preparing and delivering meals that meet a variety of dietary needs, including modified textures and allergen-safe dishes.
  • Leading the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Helping to plan menus that are both nutritious and appealing, in line with residents' needs and preferences.
  • Supporting kitchen staff and maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety.
  • Collaborating with care teams to make sure every resident receives the right nutrition in the right way.
  • Ensuring food stock is well-managed and supplies are used efficiently.
