We would like you to join our fabulous and extremely supportive team. Our service provides support to our brilliant customers who have support needs relating to their mental health, learning disabilities and dual diagnosis and who live in one of our 54 properties in Blyth, Cramlington, Ashington and other parts of Northumberland.
Our team will tell you that no two days are ever the same because everything we do is “person centred” around our customers. You might help with daily Living tasks such as helping a customer to wash the dishes or going for the weekly food shop in the morning and then support our customers to attend college in the afternoon but then support our customer's with distraction techniques to support with anxiety and mental health Crisis and sleep hygiene routines in the early evening....We even help customers to go on holiday!
Typical day as a Support Coordinator
• Creating support plans with your customers and coordinating our small team of Support Workers working to the plans.
• You’ll help our customers identify their aspirations.
• Our aim is to support our customers to live their day to day lives as independently as possible.
• Helping customers with daily living activities such as making meals, shopping, budgeting, maintaining their tenancy and moving onto independent accommodation if they are able.
• Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
• Cuppas, chats and catch ups. There’s no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to collaborate with colleagues too.
Fancy going home each day knowing that you have helped change our customers lives for the better? You’ll do that here, working for one of the top ten Great Place to Work in the UK!
You bring
• Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working collaboratively with an eye for detail.
• Experience of creating person-centred support plans and supporting colleagues in working to work to the plans.
• Experience of coordinating and assessing customer referrals.
• The ability to work on your own initiative, remain calm under pressure and have a resilient approach
• As this is a community-based role, you’ll need to travel around to spend time with your customers. You could do this role using public, or if you drive and have access to a car that would also be amazing! (we pay your expenses to cover this use!)
Due to limits on our current certificates of sponsorship, we are not able to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role.  This remains under regular review

Our team describe themselves as really friendly and approachable. In fact, when new members have joined us in the past, it’s been said that they felt welcomed by colleagues and our customers from day one!
We’re also super passionate about supporting customers and celebrating their achievements. With colleagues as warm and team spirited as ours, were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’! Our managers Vicky Evans and Jamie Ellison have worked for homegroup for many years and have developed into the role.
Its exciting, challenging and everyday is different but you are never working alone.
Job details
• You’ll work on a rota basis between the hours of 8 am and 8pm and take your turn working days, weekends and bank holidays.
• We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you.
• Able to use technology for creating and updating support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.
• You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
