Crynodeb

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Millfield School for an experienced Futures International Counsellor to join our Futures team in supporting Millfield students and their families with all elements of international future pathway exploration and application.

This role will support students applying for all global higher education and future pathways outside of the UK. The majority of our students apply to the UK with an increasing number applying to the USA, Canada and the EU.

Millfield is one of the leading UK independent schools for boys and girls, aged 2-18 years. Millfield is not like other schools and never has been. Founded in 1935, Millfield’s vision is to be the world leader for the development of children. There are nearly 1300 students at the senior school (year 9 to U6) and a further 450 students at the neighbouring Prep School. Millfield’s size brings great opportunity, and the facilities are unmatched in the UK: an Olympic-sized swimming pool, golf courses, indoor centres for tennis, golf and cricket and an equestrian centre; concert hall, recording studio, theatre, art gallery, hi-tech Science block and outstanding teaching facilities; and high-quality boarding accommodation.

The successful applicant will have experience of providing careers and higher education advice and will have a passion and commitment for working with and supporting young people and their families.

There will potentially be the opportunity for the successful candidate to take on additional roles within the school’s co-curricular programme.

Key duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Working with the Futures Team (HoD, Deputy HoD, Assistant HoD, Office Manager) to support a comprehensive service for students, families and staff.
• Offering International HE and alternative pathways support when needed and dependent on case load.
• Organising and attending events promoting future pathways including assisting with the planning of the annual Overseas Universities Roadshow, Futures Fair, OM Careers Convention and Futures Overseas Day.
• Offering informational workshops along with the HoD, Deputy HoD and Assistant HoD.
• Attending annual networking, workshops and PD events to remain up to date on all aspects of careers and Higher Education.

The hours of work are 8.30am-5pm, Monday to Friday during term time. You will also be expected to work an additional 4 weeks during the school holidays. In return, you will receive a salary of £32,000 per annum (inclusive of statutory holiday pay), freshly prepared lunches for just £10 per month, access to the school facilities and discounts/cashback on high street shops and restaurants through the school’s Employee Assistance Programme.
