Summary
We are looking for a passionate and adaptable teacher to join our dedicated team at a small independent secondary school for students with special educational needs. This full-time position, Monday to Friday, offers the opportunity to work in a supportive, nurturing environment with class sizes capped at seven students.
Our school provides a calm and structured setting where individual needs are at the heart of everything we do. We are seeking someone who can build strong relationships, deliver engaging lessons and help our students achieve meaningful progress both academically and personally.
The successful candidate will have a calm and patient demeanour, excellent communication skills and a flexible, solution-focused approach. A strong understanding of SEN needs and strategies is essential, alongside the ability to manage change and support students through a range of challenges.
Key responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual needs, providing purposeful feedback, and working closely with support staff to facilitate learning. You will also plan and deliver targeted interventions, manage classroom support to ensure consistency, and contribute to a cohesive, team-based approach to education. Regular completion of paperwork, updating progress trackers, and liaising with parents and professionals are also core parts of the role.
A sound knowledge of national curriculum objectives is essential. You should be confident in using assessment information to plan targeted teaching that accelerates progress and narrows gaps in learning. The ability to personalise learning while maintaining high expectations is vital.
