The Trust is undertaking a significant programme of work following concerns raised about the practice of a Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in children.


The primary aim of the programme is toidentifyand address instances of harm, and to ensure open,sensitiveandtimelycommunication with affected patients and their families.


Areas of focus within the programme include:

• Commissioning an independent clinical review of approximately 700 elective cases and 100 trauma cases

• Commissioning an independent review of whether lessons can be learned from an earlier report in 2016

• Liaising with patients and their families sensitively and transparently and creating channels for questions and concerns to be raised.


This programme involvesa number ofdifferent clinical and non-clinical staff groups across the hospital working together on the areas of focus above, as well as significant interaction with external bodies, often under time pressure.


TheSenior Data Analyst willapply highly developed specialist knowledge, skills and experience in production, development andimplementation of data analytics and data management to support the review team.


They will apply theirexpertisein working with self-service data resources along with a strong knowledge of data analysis tools (advanced Excel/Python/R/SQL) to undertake critical analysis of sensitive data.They will alsobe responsible forall data integrity,accuracy,consistencyand reliability. They will work with the team to ensureappropriate datacapture and retention policies and procedures are in place,appropriate tothe sensitivity and criticality of the work.
