Research and Innovation Office

Assistant Research Project Bid Co-Ordinator

Full time starting salary is in the range of £37,337 to £41,478 per annum

Location: Cranfield, Bedfordshire

The Research and Innovation Office (RIO) is looking for an ambitious, highly numerate, proactive and customer-focused individual to join the team supporting the academic community in applying for, and securing, valuable research funding.

About the Role
Working in partnership with the University’s academic community and Professional Service Units the post-holder will provide a vital specialist research proposal, tender support, and coordination service. This includes accurately costing and pricing research, consultancy and large complex projects for the University - ensuring they comply with Cranfield’s status as an educational charity, as well as ensuring compliance with current legislation, internal policies and Cranfield processes. The University has recently invested in Worktribe, a sector-leading workflow management system for research and consultancy activity, and this will be one of the fundamental systems used by the post-holder.

In addition to producing accurate project costings, the post-holder will be a central point of advice related to proposal submissions for academic and other University staff, and they will play a key role in understanding funder call documentation to ensure (among others) maximum cost recovery is achieved to help ensure the sustainability of the University’s wide portfolio of research activity.

The post-holder will need to be customer focused and follow the principals of “enabling”, “delivering” and “assuring” in their day-to-day activities.

This role is based on a minimum of 2 days per week on campus, with one of those a dedicated team day.

About You
A proactive self-starter, you will be highly numerate with a keen eye for detail. A good understanding of the Microsoft suite of software is essential, as is the ability to work effectively with budgets. You will be able to interpret complex call guidance to ensure University compliance with funder requirements, particularly financial and finance-related. An enthusiastic team player, you enjoy working with colleagues and providing a quality service to stakeholders. You enjoy learning and mastering new technologies and systems in support of your role.
