Job Description
As parents of 2 lovely and happy adults - female aged 27 and male aged 35 with severe learning difficulties, we count on personal care assistants to gently and capably meet the needs of our son and daughter, providing a level of care that exceeds expectations.
We’re seeking experienced personal care assistant(s) who can be a companion and who seems like family, providing them with not only trustworthy care but also a lifestyle with new possibilities.
Whether assisting with the effects of their disabilities, or an occasional errand, or taking them out in their wheelchair, the personal care assistant will serve as an invaluable support person in a variety of scenarios. Our children need someone to toilet them, shower them, help them dress, and make sure they eat healthy meals and drink fluids. The role will also involve some housekeeping tasks e.g., washing and ironing laundry, washing up, supporting with meals.
The ideal candidate will be able to handle any of these circumstances with a gentle touch and a cheerful attitude.

Roles and Responsibilities
• To assist the clients in their day to day living within their own home, promoting independence and diversity in their lives in accordance with their care plans
• To assist the clients with personal care, which may include getting up, going to bed, washing, bathing, oral hygiene, dressing/undressing, toileting and changing pads
• To assist the clients with their mobility and physical disabilities and help them to move around safely
• To help with the use and care of aids and personal equipment
• To assist with preparation and feeding of meals, drinks and snacks when necessary
• To assist with toileting and changing clothes and/or bedding where necessary
• To maintain commodes and wash clothes and bed linen (which may include soiled laundry) when necessary
• To provide assistance with other tasks of personal daily living that the client cannot manage and provide general support
• To assist and encourage the management of medication or administer where necessary and appropriate once training has been undertaken and as documented in the client care plan
• To monitor health related conditions such as dietary & fluid intake.
If the time allows to assist with exploring outdoor activities or attendance at planned activities e.g., pushing the wheelchair and user into the park
Other duties and responsibilities
• To ensure service users retain individuality and personal dignity by promoting high standards of care and encouraging independence where appropriate.
• To respect the confidential nature of the work.
• To provide direct care to the clients as circumstances require.
• To contribute to an effective system of communication with the parents
• To undertake such duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature, as may be determined by the parents from time to time in consultation with the post holder.
• To attend formal and informal training opportunities to enhance understanding of the clients needs and abilities.

Required Training
On the job training will be provided but experience of carrying out a similar role would be desirable
