Education & Training 1. To lead and develop the pharmacy education and training programmes under the direction of the lead pharmacist for education, training and workforce development. 2. To educate, maintain and develop a team and speciality-based model for clinical pharmacy service provision under the direction of the Pharmacy Clinical Services Manager. 3. To regularly meet with the Pharmacy Clinical Services Manager and Lead Pharmacist for Education, Training and Workforce Provide and support the on-going education, training, and professional development of clinical pharmacy staff. This includes supervision, training and support to junior pharmacists, trainee pharmacists and other pharmacy staff as necessary o To organise and/or provide teaching of clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice to undergraduate MPharm students, student nurses, student doctors, non-medical prescriber trainees, and other qualified healthcare professionals. Teaching will include lectures, practical classes, tutorials, experiential visits to GWH pharmacy, supervising research projects and practice based learning. 6. To plan and facilitate GWH's foundation training year for trainee pharmacists, acting as designated supervisor and designated prescribing practitioneras appropriate. 7. To co-ordinate and manage post-graduate clinical diploma pharmacists and pharmacist independent prescriber trainees, including course applications, funding applications, supporting training, and acting in the role of diploma mentor, designated prescribing supervisor and/or designated prescribing practitioner as appropriate. To implement and support engagement with local, regional and national progressional frameworks for pharmacy staff, including the Acute Hospital Alliance's band 6 to 7 progressional framework. . To lead on the design, delivery and assessment of MPharm student hospital placements at GWH, promoting hospital pharmacy as a career choice. To promote the department and pharmacy careers through organising and facilitating work experience placements, experiential pharmacy visits, engagement with local schools, colleges and universitites, and participation in local promotional initiatives. 1To prepare business cases to support Education and Training Pharmacy developments 1To arrange and/or deliver relevant departmental meetings that will enable staff to be brought up to date on current issues and provide education on medicines issues. Clinical Pharmacy o lead, develop and expand the clinical pharmacy service in acute medicine areas. 2. Act as an advanced pharmacy practitioner for acute medicine, to plan care and identify areas of concern related to medicine use in a specialty.T 3. To provide a specialist clinical pharmacy service to patients in acute medicine in line with clinical pharmacy standards and objectives 4. Clinically checking all prescriptions before dispensing and referring to the prescriber any unusual doses, potential drug interactions or incompatibilities for confirmation or revision before authorising dispensing. 5. Assist in clinical decision making to ensure patient safety and medication effectiveness through the medicines optimisation agenda. 6. Counselling patients and discussing any medication-related issues. LLiaising with other healthcare professionals in Primary and Secondary Care when necessary, using the agreed communication pathways as appropriate. 8. Review results of external audits related to patient care and develop action plans as necessary. 9. To be/ become an Independent Prescriber (IP) and to continue to develop the role of pharmacist independent prescriber within the Trust. T0. To actively identify and take forward opportunities for generalist pharmacist prescribing within the trust. 11. To be/ become a designated prescribing supervisor and/ordesignated prescribing practitioner for pharmacist prescriber trainees 12. Contribute to the strategic development of pharmacy services and lead by example to enhance the Pharmacy Service reputation both at a local and national level. 13. To deputise for the Deputy Clinical Pharmacy Manager, lead for medicine. 14.
