Hours: 24 hours per week. Monday - Thursday

Between 8.15am - 3.15pm depending on hours agreed

Term time only

Pay Rate: £12.21 - £13.50 per hour, dependent on experience



St Andrew’s is a community focused, pack away Pre-school in the heart of Caversham Heights. As a registered Charity we consist of an engaged Committee of Voluntary Trustees and a friendly staff team. We are looking to recruit a qualified Childcare Practitioner to join our exceptional team of Early Years Practitioners. You need to be passionate about delivering excellent early years childcare, playing a key role in a dedicated team, and supporting our families.



As a key member of the Pre-school team, you will be responsible for providing a caring and supportive environment where all children are able to engage in age-appropriate learning and develop within the 3 prime areas of the Early Years Statutory Framework. As an Early Years Practitioner, you will be the key person for a group of around 6 children, helping to deliver curriculum specific content, providing observations, and developing relationships with the families



Qualifications:

NVQ2 in Childcare and Education or above: NNEB or equivalent Early Years qualification.

Hold a current Paediatric First Aid certificate.

Trainees and apprentices will be considered



Previous experience:

Previous experience working in a Pre-school or equivalent environment

Experience in creating relevant assessments and observations



Responsibilities:

Be an integral part of the team creating a positive and stimulating environments for all children to grow in confidence and learn through interactive and collaborative play.

Ensure the safety of all within the setting by following all safeguarding and health and safety guidance and procedures, reporting concerns to the relevant person in a timely manner.

Complete observations on Key Children, work collaboratively with the team to record assessments and input to planning, ensuring individual child needs are covered.

Set up and clear away Pre-school activities and equipment at the start and end of the day.

Confidently lead sessions with the support of other team members, this could include registration, story time, singing, physical activity.

Engage with Pre-school families supporting children’s development needs, encouraging their involvement, and promoting the setting values.

Maintain knowledge of current legislation relevant to early years, both proactively and with the support of the team.

Attend staff meetings, training courses, and events required to fulfil the role.

A caring and supportive individual who can calmly respond to the needs of individuals within the setting.

Reliable and discrete, with a strong knowledge of confidentiality and data security relevant to Pre-school settings.

Confident and decisive, able to direct and support team members when required.

Proactive and flexible, able to make decisions and adapt to situations when a timely solution is required.

Organised with an eye for detail that can be applied both in setting and during observations.

Confident communicator with good written skills and able to competently use computer software.
