Facilities Assistant
Reports to: Team Leader or Senior Assistant
Location: CDL Campus, Stockport
Salary: £25,000 p.a.
OVERVIEW
As a Facilities Assistant at CDL, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. You’ll be the first point of contact for the Facilities department, supporting daily operations, maintaining high standards of safety and service, and contributing to a secure and efficient workplace. This role requires a proactive, hands-on approach and a strong awareness of health, safety, and security protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily opening and securing of CDL properties, including off-site locations as needed.
Maintain high standards in facilities operations, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Support Health & Safety and Environmental audits by completing checks and reporting issues.
Oversee external contractors (cleaning, maintenance, catering, pest control), ensuring SLAs and KPIs are met.
Conduct daily building and meeting room checks, resolving issues promptly.
Manage stationery and consumables orders for the entire building.
Assist with office moves, furniture replacement, and ad hoc facilities projects.
Coordinate meeting room setups and act as liaison for internal departments and contractors.
Ensure contractors have valid work permits and health & safety documentation.
Support the Facilities Manager with administrative tasks and service provider coordination.
Perform general maintenance tasks when contractors are unavailable, including cleaning, groundskeeping, and minor repairs.
Liaise with security contractors to ensure site safety and functionality.
Support environmental initiatives, including recycling targets and data recording.
Organize and conduct fire drills, fire marshal systems, and first aid training.
Ensure compliance with procurement and invoicing procedures.
Maintain up-to-date and appropriate site signage.
Provide reception cover, including handling calls and visitor queries.
Assist with event setups on- and off-site, including transporting equipment.
Support hybrid teams (e.g., Finance, Platform Engineers) with facilities requests.
Manage departmental communications via email, Teams, and ServiceNow.
Drive company vehicles (minibus, Tesla) for client pickups and drop-offs.
Occasionally assist employees with travel or presentation logistics, including overnight stays.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
GCSE/GCE in Maths and English.
IOSH or other Health & Safety qualification (desirable).
Experience in a facilities environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Understanding of mechanical and electrical (M&E) services.
Experience managing external contractors and service providers.
Knowledge of procurement and invoicing processes.
Full, clean driving licence and physical fitness for manual tasks.
SIA Level 1 Security Certificate (beneficial).
