Operational Manager – Role Overview
This is a fantastic role for someone who is passionate about inspiring and motivating a team. You’ll encourage collaboration and innovation to ensure effective communication, sharing of ideas and continuous improvement.
You’ll manage a team of Rent Officers and be accountable for achieving the team’s strategic targets and objectives. Our managers play a pivotal role in delivering an excellent service to our customers through their support and guidance. In addition, you will identify, translate, and communicate business goals and requirements into day-to-day activities.
Operational Manager – Key responsibilities
- Managing work allocation across Rent Officer Functions by collaborating with other hub managers to ensure the most efficient use of resource across the Unit to meet business need and achieve operational delivery targets.
- To recognise and deal with management issues within the team, resolving them quickly and effectively, robustly dealing with performance issues - applying the correct HR principles to process and escalating where appropriate.
- To encourage innovation within the team to enable continuous improvement suggestions to be captured, evaluated, shared and implemented.
- Ensuring team members have the knowledge and skills required for their role; for example, by monitoring completion of required training and encouraging access to 5 days’ L&D.
- Using Performance Achievement Scheme tools such as objective setting, performance achievement conversations, templates and development plans to identify areas for improvement and development, taking appropriate action to address.
- Promote and monitor staff engagement surveys such as the People Survey and Pulse Survey, demonstrating a commitment to act on feedback to make Rent Officer Functions a great place to work.
- Identifying, managing, and mitigating potential risks, and making recommendations on action to be taken.
- Working effectively with internal stakeholders including Quality Control and Rent Officer Technical Services to promote best practice and drive consistency nationally.
