SEMH Teaching Assistant, Wakefield - Full Time (September 2025)
Are you an experienced SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant (TA) looking for a full-time role? We're working with a primary school in Wakefield who are seeking an experienced SEMH TA to join their team from September 2025 on a supply basis.
This role will focus on supporting children as they reintegrate into school life after the summer break. You will play a crucial part in helping pupils settle back into routines, manage their behaviour, and re-engage positively with learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Assist in the development of tailored behaviour support strategies.
- Provide a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Work closely with class teachers and SENCO to track progress and adapt support as required.
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation through consistent support.
Requirements:
- Proven experience supporting behaviour and SEMH needs in a school setting.
- A calm, resilient and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills.
- Ability to adapt and respond to changing needs throughout the day.
- Available to work full time, Monday to Friday, from September 2025.
