Trainee Manager Job Description

About Us
At Bright Sparks, we are passionate about giving every child the best start in life, especially those facing additional challenges. We work closely with families to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that helps children thrive. Bright Sparks is a nurturing, inclusive nursery that is currently at an exciting stage of development and expansion, with new possibilities on the horizon. We're now looking for a motivated, compassionate Trainee Nursery Manager to grow with us and become a key part of our evolving journey.

The Role
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a qualified practitioner with some nursery experience to grow into a management role. You will be mentored directly by the Nursery Manager and gradually take on more responsibility as you grow in confidence and understanding of how we run things.
You’ll work closely with the nursery manager to:
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the setting
- Help lead and motivate staff
- Build strong, supportive relationships with children and families
- Ensure the highest standards of safeguarding, care and education. - Take on more responsibility over time and make a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities
Support the daily running of the nursery, ensuring a safe, caring, and enriching environment
Begin to lead and support the staff team, learning how to manage rotas, routines, and responsibilities
Learn how to make sound decisions under pressure and take initiative in busy situations
Uphold and promote safeguarding, equality, and inclusion at all times
Develop strong, professional relationships with families, offering them support, signposting, and understanding
Champion children’s development, particularly those with additional needs
Shadow and eventually assist with key administrative tasks (e.g. Ofsted compliance, staff supervision, parent communication)
Embrace further training and development as part of your growth into a leadership role

What We’re Looking For
Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in Early Years Education and Care
Some experience working in a nursery setting (enough to build on, not so much you're set in your ways)
Emotionally resilient and able to stay calm under pressure
A natural problem solver who is not afraid to make decisions (with support at first)
Passionate about supporting vulnerable families and helping children reach their full potential
Professional, reliable, and flexible – able to adapt as needed and always put children first
Willing to undergo further training, including leadership and SEND support
Why Join Us?
Learn directly from an experienced manager who will mentor and support your progress
Grow at your own pace into a management role
Be part of a nursery that genuinely values children, families, and its team
Supportive working environment with trust, development, and real opportunity
Opportunities to specialise in areas such as SEND, safeguarding, or family outreach
