Pastoral Mentor - SEMH & Behaviour Support - Waltham Forest
Long Term Futures are working with a progressive and inclusive secondary school in Waltham Forest to appoint a Pastoral Mentor to support students across KS3 and KS4.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in pastoral care, working closely with Heads of Year to make a real impact on student behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH and behavioural needs
* Monitor and encourage positive behaviour across the school day, including transitions and social times
* Support students both in and out of the classroom to promote engagement and inclusion
* Work alongside pastoral staff to follow up on behaviour and attendance concerns
* Attend and contribute to pastoral meetings, supporting with action plans and strategies
* Communicate regularly with Heads of Year, offering feedback and seeking guidance to support development
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience working with secondary students, particularly those with SEMH or behavioural challenges
* A proactive, calm, and confident approach to managing behaviour and building relationships
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
* A genuine passion for student support and a willingness to grow professionally
* Prior experience in schools, youth work, or behaviour-focused roles is highly desirable
Location & Transport - Waltham Forest, London:
* Easily accessible via Walthamstow Central and Blackhorse Road stations
* Served by bus routes: 34, 97, 215, 357, W15
* Staff parking available on-site
