Role Overview:
The Financial Accounts Manager will be responsible for managing client accounts, overseeing financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a proactive individual with strong analytical skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality financial services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as the primary contact for a portfolio of clients across various industries
• Maintain and develop strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and retention
• Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
• Review work prepared by junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant standards
• Supervise bookkeeping activities and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions
• Review and submit VAT returns in compliance with HMRC regulations, including MTD
• Manage and coordinate payroll processing and RTI submissions
• Provide guidance on PAYE, NIC, and pension auto-enrolment matters
• Prepare management accounts, cash flow reports, and financial forecasts as required
• Liaison with associates on timely submission of corporation tax and self-assessment returns
• Liaison with associates on basic tax planning advice in collaboration with tax specialists
• Support client onboarding and ensure all AML and KYC documentation is complete
• Train, supervise, and mentor junior members of the accounts team
• Ensure deadlines are met and client records are maintained to regulatory standards
• Utilise cloud-based software such as Xero, QuickBooks, TaxCalc, Caseware, Zoho books, Free Agent, VT, Sage, SAP and other application to manage client data
• Support digital transformation by recommending appropriate accounting tools and systems
• Identify and promote additional services such as R&D tax claims and business advisory
• Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, HMRC, and Companies House filing requirements
• Attend internal meetings and contribute to the overall improvement of practice operations
• Manage a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, addressing their financial needs and queries.
• Collaborate with internal teams to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
• Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or working towards one.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role within an accounting or financial services firm.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Desirable Attributes:
• Experience with cloud-based accounting systems.
• Ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
