Wetherby High School is a forward-thinking school in a semi-rural area of North Leeds. Our ethos is based upon inclusive and restorative values that we believe best allow every student the opportunity to realise their full potential. Over recent months the school has undergone a period of significant change and is embarking on an ambitious programme of improvement and growth.
We are now looking to appoint a Year Manager from September. The post holder will be expected to challenge and support students in order to improve motivation, attendance, engagement and character for learning.
We are looking for candidates who are skilled in effectively managing student engagement and have successful experience of working with the full range of students including the most vulnerable. The successful candidates will have strong interpersonal skills, be able to positively influence students and confidently liaise with colleagues, parent/carers and a range of partner organisations.
The post holders will be expected to undertake a wide range of duties including:
• Developing restorative and relational approaches to inclusion, holding students to high expectations and tracking progress
• Proactive steps to support children at risk of poor engagement
• Liaison with colleagues, families and other services to implement effective strategies aimed at securing engagement and progress
It is essential that the post holder share our school ethos which is firmly rooted in a restorative approach and the following values: to ‘Know our children well’: to be ‘Partners in Learning’: to develop ‘Character for Achievement’; to ‘Enjoy and Aspire’. We firmly believe that in order to move forwards we need to be prepared and able to ‘do things differently and do different things.
