Job Title: Development and Design Highway Engineer
Ref: Hull 5269012B
Pay rate: £24.28 per hour PAYE
Minimum of 2 days per week in the office, which can include time spent on site visits.
The role:
We are seeking an experienced Highway Engineer to join the team, specialising in highway maintenance and improvement schemes.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and delivering a range of highway infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and contracts and understanding of NEC4.
Other Key Responsibilities:
Manage projects with an extensive understanding and application of NEC4 contracts
Prepare comprehensive tender documentation, including design drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), specifications, Contract Data (NEC), and other related project documents such as scope and pre-construction information.
Apply a good understanding of relevant design guides, codes, and standards to ensure project compliance and quality
Supervise site works, including conducting site surveys and levelling as required
Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety standards and CDM regulations throughout all project phases
Provide specialist advice on highway design and maintenance queries
What the client is looking for:
Degree or equivalent level of experience
Chartered Engineer with a Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (Desirable)
Recognised Engineering qualification and relevant experience
Proven experience in delivering highway infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of NEC4 contract management
Competent in preparing tender documents and related project documentation
Familiarity with relevant design guides, codes, and standards for highways
Experience in site supervision and survey techniques
Sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation, particularly CDM regulations
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly
