Job Title: Development and Design Traffic Engineer

Pay rate: £24.28 per hour PAYE
Minimum of 2 days per week in the office, which can include time spent on site visits.
The role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Traffic Engineering Officer to join the team.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in delivering Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) from inception to implementation, with a comprehensive understanding of the relevant legislation.
This role involves managing a variety of traffic engineering projects, including traffic calming schemes, speed limit changes, and small highway infrastructure improvements, ensuring compliance with applicable design guides, codes, and standards.
Other Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Traffic Engineering solutions addressing parking issues, traffic capacity improvements, active travel route signing, and destination signing
Maintain a sound knowledge of relevant design guides, codes, and standards, applying these effectively to projects
Liaise and collaborate with Area Teams, elected members, internal departments, and external partners including emergency services
Provide specialist advice on traffic-related queries to colleagues and stakeholders
Ensure all work complies with relevant Health and Safety standards
What the client is looking for:
Degree or equivalent level of experience
Chartered Engineer with a Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (Desirable)
Recognised Engineering qualification and relevant experience
Demonstrable experience in delivering TROs and traffic engineering projects
Strong knowledge of relevant traffic legislation, design guides, and industry standards
Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively
High-level interpersonal and communication skills, capable of presenting technical information to a variety of audiences
Commitment to maintaining Health and Safety compliance at all times
Ability to manage effective budgets/resources and enforce proper financial controls, showing sound business judgement
In depth theoretical and applied knowledge of specific aspects of Civil Engineering.
Substantial experience of use of IT packages utilised to deliver Civil, Traffic or Street Lighting Engineering functions
