Job Title: Communications Manager Location: Team Portsmouth

Salary: £40,000 per annum

This role is a 12 month FTC Maternity Cover

We are looking for a skilled Communications Manager to drive communication strategies to support business continuity.This role will focus on delivering effective internal campaigns, facilitating change communication, and supporting key events acrossHM Naval Base, Portsmouth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute internal communication campaigns, strategies, and plans
  • Provide 24/7 communication support during incidents and ensure business continuity
  • Ensure excellence in all communications activities and improve internal processes
  • Demonstrate a good ability for linking teams across the Naval Base and lead the communications network 
  • Support the delivery of Team Portsmouth activities and events including Families’ Day’s, ship homecoming events and base-wide briefings
  • Oversee the management and improvement of Team Portsmouth Communications channels
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve business and change communication goals
  • Report monthly communications updates to leadership
  • Manage and improve internal communications channels within Team Portsmouth
  • Act as a link between teams across the Naval Base and lead the communications network

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in corporate communications, internal communications, or PR desirable
  • Ability to build strong networks and influence stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging content tailored to different audiences.
  • A proactive, creative approach with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage own workload and the workload of others to achieve demanding deadlines
  • Ability to use effective communications channels to build positive relationships
  • Defence sector knowledge desirable
  • Understanding of effective communications practices and channels essential
