An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our established team in our Medical and Health Services for Elderly People (HSEP) Therapy service.

We are looking for an individual who demonstrates an enthusiastic and flexible approach to their work with good organisational skills, and who is motivated to provide excellent care for our patients and to help them achieve their maximum functional ability. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team are essential for this position.

The successful applicant will be working with patients who are admitted with a range of medical conditions - many with frailty and dementia. You will work closely with experienced physiotherapists and occupational therapists to support and assist patients with their rehabilitation programme and to enable them to be discharged safely from hospital. As well as working jointly with therapists, you will also have the opportunity to work with patients on an individual basis.

The Support Worker role involves assisting patients to practice their self-care tasks such as washing/dressing, toileting, activities of daily living, mobility and exercise programmes. The role may also involve supporting with home visits with the therapists and general administrative duties.

The successful applicant will be joining an experienced multidisciplinary therapy team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dietitians and Therapy Support Workers, supported by a Clinical Lead Therapist and an Advanced Frailty Practitioner. We are a very friendly, welcoming and inclusive department where staff wellbeing is a high priority.



We are committed to supporting development of staff through training, supervision, joint sessions with therapists and appraisal. We have an established competency programme and you will be supported to work through these. Therapies provide a 7 day therapy service, and any successful applicant will be expected to participate in the rota (1 weekend in 6) as well as in the bank holiday cover (2 Bank holidays per year).
