Role - Electrical Engineer QA/QC
Project Type - New build energy project
Location - Cheshire
Start Date - ASAP
Duration - 6 Months (possible extension)
Rates - £425 per day outside IR35
Hours: 07.00 to 17.00. Monday to Friday. Must be flexible to work weekends when required.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Site QA/QC Electrical Engineer to join our clients team in the Cheshire area.
6 months contact and ideally someone from large-scale energy/power projects. 95% of the role will be in the field.
Pillars of Responsibilities:
- Monitor Suppliers and/or Erection subcontractors the implementation of the project quality plan and the ITPs. Reports to the Site QA/QC Manager for the quality performance of the project.
- Success in this role at Company will depend on: Assist Site QA/QC Manager to establish the required quality culture in the project team to improve quality performance of the project and increase client satisfaction.
Key responsibilities, accountabilities and decision ownership:
- Maintain standards of safety and comply with Project's Health, Safety and Environment Management System requirements.
- Reports to Site Quality manager, liaise with construction team for quality issues.
- Responsible for the execution (and improvement) of the Project Quality Plan in compliance with the requirements of the project, through the implementation of project's specifications, procedures, inspection and test plans (ITPs) and method statements (MSs).
- Issues relevant Request for Inspection (RFI) to the Client and maintains a relevant register file for the progress of inspections.
- Verifies that inspections are performed to the extent defined within the ITPs, by the appropriate staff, with the calibrated equipment, as required. - Checks all required inspection points and reports as specified within the ITPs and monitors records within Schedules.
- Issues the relevant Quality Records and, when necessary, informs the Quality Control Supervisor for non-conformities.
- Inspect materials/ equipment during receipt, verify compliance with the requirements.
- Monitor preservation of equipment during storage/handling and after installation
- Checks cable laying and cable identification.
- Verify cables routing and correct termination acc. dwgs
- Performs visual inspections, dimensional test, checks rating and material for connection.
- Inspect electrical equipment during erection based on the ITPs, such as T/Fs, GCBs, SSTs, UATs, SWGRs, STGs, EDGs, SPBs, Bus Ducts / Breakers, Main distribution Panels, Control panels etc.
- Performs all relevant loop checks, continuity, insulation resistance.
- Updates as built drawings.
- Verify calibration of equipment/instruments
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
- Experience of working on major electrical works projects within the Power Plant or O&G industry.
- Formal engineering training and technical qualification.
- Previous experience 5 to 7 years on electrical inspection activities in Power Plants or O&G.
- Previous experience in completion systems, (final walkdown, punch items, turn over packages)
- Previous exposure to high voltage electrical installation including switchgear and electric drives.
- Hazardous Area installation and equipment ATEX inspection experience.
- Checks Instrument calibrations including ultrasonic flow meter, level transmitters, temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters etc.
- Working knowledge of construction standards, codes of practice, regulations / legislation in general and in particular of BS/IEC/ISO/API/ATEX/EEMUA codes and standards relating to electrical and instrumentation work.
- Knowledge of safety regulations.
- Familiar with MS Office Package (excel, outlook etc)
- University Degree education level preferable.
