We are looking for new Trustees to join the Board of Carers Leeds on an unpaid voluntary basis.
Charity trustees play an important role in making sure Carers Leeds is run in the best interest of carers. Should you join the Board, you would share responsibility with other trustees for the governance of our organisation and oversee how it is managed.
Established in 1996, Carers Leeds is a charity that provides information, advice and support to unpaid adult and parent carers across our city. This includes our Advice Line, carers support groups, one to one support and support in hospitals. Some of our services are universal – open to all carers – and some are targeted at specific groups of carers. Our services are provided to all communities throughout Leeds.
We work in partnership with others to deliver our service and to influence them to act to benefit unpaid carers. This involves those working in health and social care and employers. We use what unpaid carers tell us about their experiences and what matters to them, to help create change at a local and national level.
Brief Role Description:
Our Board of Trustees are responsible for:
Ensuring that the charity is run effectively and delivers its stated service
Ensuring that the finances are sound and that the accounts are run properly
Ensuring that Carers Leeds has the highest levels of governance and integrity
This is primarily carried out through preparing for and attending Board meetings and Board awaydays. It may also include additional activities such as working with a sub-group of the Board, CEO or senior management team on strategic projects, or taking on a Lead Trustee role for a priority area of our work.
What we are looking for:
We are keen to welcome people from a diverse range of backgrounds to become Trustees. We welcome candidates with digital, HR and/or income generation experience as these sectors are currently under- represented on our Board.
You don’t need any previous trustee experience, or experience in the third sector. We want people who care about our mission and who are committed to making a difference to the lives of unpaid carers in Leeds.
To arrange an informal discussion with the Chair or CEO and/or to receive an application pack, please contact Hannah.bowers@carersleeds.org.uk
Interviews will take place week commencing 14 July.
Carers Leeds is a Limited Company Registered No. 3242065
Registered Charity No. 1058706
