This is a key role, within the People Safety Team. The successful candidate will be supporting the on-going delivery of the People Safety Strategy.

Working within the qualified Health & Safety Business Partner team you will support the department’s aim in ensuring the business remains compliant to legislative changes and our policies and processes always remain centred around the health and safety of our people customers and partners.

This is a demanding role working in an environment where you will need be able to communicate fully with both internal and external stakeholders across all areas of the business. You will be able to exercise effective judgement to manage conflicting priorities in a busy high-profile area, ensuring performance deadlines are met.

  • Triage accident and Fast-Track (FT) reports using embedded methodology for consistency. Undertake and support accident and FT investigations, liaising with relevant DWP stakeholders and suppliers to develop high quality outcomes. Oversee completion of corrective and preventive action plans, ensure wider risks are identified and communicated to risk owners.
  • Maintain the reporting database, ensure events are correctly categorised for accurate reporting/trend analysis. Ensure RIDDOR incidents are investigated and reported to HSE within statutory timescales, and support the management of personal injury claims.
  • Support the delivery of Safety risk assessments. Monitor compliance with People Safety training and risk assessments using TARAHs system. Identify trends and gaps and promote improvement activity to ensure compliance requirement are met.
  • Delivery of 1-2-1 DSE consultation, working with internal stakeholders and suppliers towards best solutions. Record findings and monitor action plans. Identify and provide signposting where cases require Reasonable Adjustment under the Equality Act, liaise with Workplace Adjustments Team as required.
  • Undertake detailed audits of People Safety policies and processes (and support wider H&S audit activity) in line with the People Safety audit programme. Report findings within agreed timescales, identify and support improvement activity.
  • Provide expert advice & support to Managers, ensuring suitable and sufficient Health & Safety Business Partnering arrangements are in place.
  • Providing expert advice & support on national products and issues including Change & Impact Analysis.
  • Support specified national DWP Health and Safety policy drafting and reviews.
  • Promote Health and Safety methodology via awareness sessions/training to foster a positive H&S culture alongside improved capability.
