Role: Programme Leader (Access to HE)
Hours: 35 hours per week FTE
Location: Stockport, Stretford and Altrincham
The Trafford and Stockport College Group (TSCG) has an opportunity for a Programme Leader to oversee and deliver our well-established and successful Access to Higher Education (HE) provision. This role combines operational leadership of the Access to HE programme with delivery in one of the following subject areas: Engineering, Computing, or Science.
The Role
As Programme Leader you will:
• Provide academic and operational leadership for the suite of Access to HE programmes.
• Manage the day-to-day delivery of the programmes, ensuring alignment with awarding body requirements and internal quality assurance processes.
• Lead curriculum development and innovation to meet learner needs and employer/HE sector demand.
• Organise and lead internal moderation and standardisation activities.
• Co-ordinate recruitment and admissions, including liaising with marketing, admissions, and outreach teams.
• Track and support at-risk students, working with support services to ensure positive progression and retention.
• Lead on planning and timetabling for Access to HE provision, working collaboratively with other departments as required.
• Chair assessment boards and ensure accurate preparation and submission of student results for final awards.
• Line manage Access to HE academic staff, supporting professional development and performance review processes.
• Maintain relationships with awarding bodies and ensure compliance with external quality assurance frameworks.
The successful candidate will be required to deliver on an Access and/or Pre Access to HE programme which could include Computing, Engineering or Science, Health Science and Nursing and Midwifery. As part of your role, you will:
• Deliver high-quality, learner-focused education that supports student success.
• Develop and implement engaging teaching and learning strategies.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement.
• Work flexibly and collaboratively within the department and across the Group.
• Uphold the Group’s values and policies, including safeguarding, equality, and health and safety.
About You
Essential attributes include:
A degree in Engineering, Computing, Science, or a related discipline.
A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd) and significant experience
teaching adult learners.
Experience of managing internal moderation processes and participating in final award boards.
Experience in curriculum planning, timetabling, and staff coordination.
Strong understanding of quality assurance frameworks relevant to Access to HE
provision.
A commitment to inclusive, high-quality education.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A proactive, resilient, and student-focused approach.
A willingness to travel between sites
Desirable attributes include:
Experience with recruitment and outreach for adult education or Access programmes.
Familiarity with awarding body processes
Proven track record in leading or coordinating Access to HE or adult education programmes.
