We have exciting projects in neonatology and acute paediatrics, as well an active programme of transition from child to adult services across all specialties. We have an active Learning from Excellence process too.
Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Paediatric Specialist Doctor to join our friendly and forward-thinking Paediatric and Neonatalteam. Based at Great Western Hospital in Swindon, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to children and young people and their families across inpatient, outpatient, neonatal and emergency settings.
The post is a new role to this department, as a Specialist Doctor in Paediatrics and Neonatology. This will be a senior role in the department, working closely with the consultant team, and also supporting the tier one and tier two resident doctors. There will also be opportunities to be involved in GP triage and advice & guidance services. There will be an expectation of regular shifts on the middle grade rota, including work on the Childrens Ward (including looking after those at HDU level), Neonatal Unit and Postnatal Ward/Delivery Suite, Paediatric Assessment Unit, and include reviewing some children in Emergency Department.
The role will include Safeguarding work. The post-holder will be committed to teaching and training, and will deliver teaching to medical students, resident doctors and trainee nurse practitioners.
They will also be a supportive role model for colleagues in the department. They will participate in the departmental teaching programme
and support trainee doctors to access educational opportunities.
They will also provide clinical support for colleagues across the multi-disciplinary team. They will work with senior colleagues to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met, undertake audit and quality improvement work, and take part in research as appropriate. They will be involved at a departmental level in identifying unmet needs and contributing towards service development.
It is a busy Paediatric department with wide experience obtained in both general and Neonatal Paediatrics.
