An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the CNWL eating disorders service. We are offering a permanent Senior Assistant Psychologist post within the Vincent Square Eating Disorder Service (adult team).
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary eating disorders team; as a Senior Assistant Psychologist, you will be directly involved in the delivery and evaluation of the eating disorder treatment pathways. This will involve psychological assessments, direct 1:1 work, the opportunity to co-facilitate evidence-based groups, and gathering feedback from the people we support and their carers.
We are seeking candidates who can work confidently under supervision, can follow direction, have the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, and are adaptable and responsive to the needs of the service. Your role will play an important part in supporting an increase in and access to evidence based psychological therapies and psychologically informed interventions.
This position involves supporting and enhancing the professional psychological care of clients within the service across all sectors or care; conducting audits; providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions of a routine nature, under the direct supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, drawing upon their supervisor’s expertise and intervention as and when advised and directed; and assisting in clinically related administration, developing research projects, providing teaching, and other project work as required.
The post holder will be based across our community sites (Health @Stowe, W2 5ES and Roxborough Road, Harrow HA1 1NS), and our inpatient and day patient site in Chelsea, SW10 9NG as required. There is be an expectation to cover some outpatient work remotely at times. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing assessment and treatment to adults (17+) with eating disorders.

The Senior Assistant Psychologist will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service, across all sectors of care; providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions of a routine nature, under the direct supervision of a qualified professional psychologist drawing on their supervisor’s expertise and intervention as and when advised and directed.
Working according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
1. To undertake, under the direct supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, protocol based psychological assessments of clients applying psychological, including neuropsychological, tests, self report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care.
2. To assist in the formulation and delivery of routine care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, under the direct supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, in both community and in-patient/residential settings.
3. To assist, under the direct supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, in the coordination and running of protocol-driven treatments such as guided self-help and CBT-T.
4. To assist, under the direct supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place.
5. To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings.
