About the Role: Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
We are seeking dedicated and skilled Mental Health Nurses to provide in-transit person centred and trauma informed care and support to patients experiencing mental health difficulties. This vital role ensures the safe, therapeutic, and compassionate transfer of patients between care settings.
You will work collaboratively with ambulance teams and other professionals to safeguard the wellbeing of those in your care. Working alongside our ambulance crew, you will help create a calm and supportive environment, ensuring patients feel respected and protected throughout their journey.

Key Responsibilities
• Assess and monitor patients’ mental health status throughout the journey.
• Support patients in safely boarding and disembarking from the ambulance.
• Deliver therapeutic support and clinical intervention as needed.
• Drive the ambulance when required, following all safety and compliance
guidelines.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure all supplies are stocked and ready.
• Follow health and safety procedures, including infection control measures.
• Attend all mandatory training, meetings, and reviews as required.
• Promptly report accidents, complaints, or anything unusual to the Service
Delivery Manager.
• Wear the company uniform at all times while on duty.
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and dignity during transit.
• Collaborate with ambulance staff and healthcare providers to ensure continuity
of care.
• Maintain thorough and accurate clinical records.
• Respond calmly and appropriately to mental health crises or changes in
condition.
• Promote patient confidentiality and uphold safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid NMC registration.
• Degree or diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
• Experience working in mental health care settings (hospital, crisis response,
community, patient transport) is expected.
• Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points (essential).
• Strong communication, observational, and crisis management skills.
• Resilience, empathy, and professionalism in challenging situations.
• An Enhanced DBS.
• The ability to speak Welsh (desirable).
