DOMESTIC/HOUEKEEPER

Accountable to: Care Centre Manager

Job Purpose: To ensure a clean and hygienic environment in all areas of the home. In so doing recognise the resident’s rights to privacy and dignity.

Principal Responsibilities:

1 To provide a good standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the workplace and to promote a safe environment for all residents, staff and visits to the home. Ensure cleaning is carried out as per cleaning schedules and that cleaning is recorded.

2 Ensure all cleaning products are stored in a locked cupboard at all times and products are used correctly using personal protective equipment as necessary. Ensure that stock cupboards are kept clean and tidy.

3 To ensure that all cleaning equipment and materials are not left unattended.

4 To ensure waste is disposed of correctly.

5 To ensure all cleaning materials are used correctly and in a cost effective manner.

6 To ensure an adequate supply of hand towels and toilet rolls at all times and that soap dispensers are filled.

7 To accept other reasonable delegated duties relevant to the post.

8 Be aware of overall maintenance reporting as necessary by completing the maintenance log or advising the Manager/person in charge.

9 Undertake audits of rooms when these become vacant.

10 Maintain necessary records ensuring these are completed by end of each shift.

11 Ensure confidentiality is maintained in handling all sensitive information to include resident and staff information. Files should be kept locked away. Information should not be left out. (see record keeping policy attached)

12 Maintain accurate records in accordance with Company policies.

13 Attend staff meetings as required.

14 Complete all training as per Company programme.



HEALTH AND SAFETY

Every employee has a responsibility for giving due regard to their own safety and the safety of their colleagues, residents and visitors to the home. Each employee will comply with the health and safety policy and fully observe the safe working practices.
