CAMHS Clinical Specialist (Professionally registered Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist, Systemic Psychotherapist, Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, Nurse or Social Worker)
We are seeking a clinical specialist to join our HOPE team trauma service, for a 12 month fixed term maternity cover. This is an opportunity to join a well-established, dynamic and supportive core team which sits within CAMHS. We provide consultations and evidence-based treatments to young people and their carers who are referred to the service with post traumatic stress disorder. The post holder will have some experience of offering evidence based interventions.
There is also an opportunity to work within the CAMHS under 12 team .

To provide CAMHSassessments and evidence-based interventions for PTSD and children young people referred to the service.
To contribute to the Child and Family Team's MDT when discussing formulations and treatment plans.
To ensure that all recording and reporting of client contact are accurate, up to date, of good quality and within CAMHS and professional requirement standards of record keeping. To collect & collate information about individual clinical activity on ePJS
§ To provide support and advise parents and carers through parenting interventions and psychoeducation, as well as offer consultation and advice to their professional networks
- To think creatively, work flexibly and have a range of clinical skills in working alongside others to support a complex range of service users and their network.
To link with other statutory and voluntary agencies and professionals as well as other CAMHS Teams in terms of referrals and joint work. Maintain good relationships and clear lines of communication with other professional agencies and departments, providing specialist advice and support where appropriate

KR 1 Clinical and Client Care
- To provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for Children, Young People, their family and Network where the identified client has complex mental health needs.
- To provide culturally appropriate, evidenced based interventions in partnership with carers, networks or families of referred clients.
- To assess and monitor risk and draw up appropriate risk management plans.
- To act as care/CPA co-ordinator taking responsibility for initiating planning and reviewing care plans, CPA co-ordination and meetings.
- To communicate skillfully and sensitively complex and sensitive information and provide reports, including relevant formulation, opinion and interventions, in order to inform referrers, service users and their families.
- To promote psychological support for carers (or families as appropriate) of referred clients.
- To ensure that all services provided are accessible, respectful and sensitive to the needs of Southwark’s diverse communities.
KR 2 Contributing to team or service clinical functioning.
- To contribute to the effective working of the team or service and to a psychologically and systemically informed framework in CAMHS.
- To provide consultations to other clinical staff on the use of family therapy and systemic psychotherapy techniques and, where appropriate, to jointly work with other team members in the provision of therapeutic interventions
- To take a proactive stance in challenging racism and discrimination and support the development of a culturally competent service.
- To liaise with referrers, GPs and other professionals concerned with clients in order to develop and review care plans and to arrange and lead network meetings as appropriate.
- To utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice in clinical work and work with other team members.
- To participate in helping develop services to family and carers of service users
KR 3 Policy and service development
- To implement policies and procedures in own area of work, and to propose improvements or beneficial changes.
- To contribute to service development through undertaking and participating in appropriate projects.
- To contribute to the consultation and engagement of service users in planning and delivering services which meet the needs of local communities.
KR 4 Care or management of resources
- To take care of, and use carefully, the Trust’s equipment and physical resources.
KR 5 Management and supervision
- To be responsible for the allocation and/or clinical supervision of the work of a paid assistant if required, under supervision from a more senior therapist.
- To supervise trainees within own area of specialism after completion of the relevant Supervision Training.
- To participate in the recruitment of more junior systemic practitioners and other CAMHS Clinicians, as appropriate
- To provide professional and clinical supervision to junior family workers or systemic practitioners, honoraries and trainee family and systemic practitioners
- To provide supervision for the systemic and family work of other multi-disciplinary staff as appropriate.
KR 6 Teaching and Training
- To contribute to the development of the knowledge and skills base within Southwark CAMHS by maintaining an active awareness of current developments in your specialist field of practice.
- To disseminate research/service evaluation findings through presentations and published articles.
To contribute to multidisciplinary training events which may be organised by other staff within the Trust
KR 7 Record-keeping and Information Governance
- To ensure that all information generated by own work is recorded as required by Trust policies and local procedures.
- To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing, according to professional and Trust guidelines, including electronic data entry.
KR 8 Research and development
- To undertake regular complex service evaluation, audits or research relevant to service needs.
KR 9 Maintaining professional standards and continuing professional development
- To receive regular clinical and professional supervision according to registration and trust guidelines.
- To maintain own Continuing Professional Development in line with professional body and Trust Personal Development Plan requirements and professional Standards for Continuing Professional Development.
- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current developments in professional and clinical practice and of relevant legislation and policies.
KR10 General
- To travel to appropriate meetings and occasional visits in homes or community settings as appropriate and across the trust when required.
- To be aware of risk relating to aggressive and challenging behaviour and follow trust policies relating to its management, including lone working policies.
- To respond appropriately and professionally to emotionally distressing situations (such as challenging behaviour, abuse etc) and to support others involved in such situations through Trust-wide approaches including Critical Incident Staff Support and Reflect-Support-Resolve.
