The Adult Forensic Service at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust has an existing opportunity for a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists to be a crucial part in helping drive improvements to our patients’ experiences and in helping contribute to the development of our new model of care.
While our new model of care is under development, and definitive medical job planning is under review, it is anticipated that the post holders will be the Responsible Clinician for 12 – 16 male inpatients or 10 – 12 female inpatients, following their caseload from admission to discharge.
We would welcome further discussions with those interested and look forward to hearing from you.
This is an exciting time to join us as Consultant (Forensic) Psychiatrist. This opportunity could be for a full-time post within either our women’s blended secure service (WBS) or our male medium secure service. Either role would allow a successful candidate to contribute to the development of our new model of care and to shape the future of secure services for women and men from Greater Manchester.
You will be supported by a full and expanding complement of multidisciplinary colleagues, with the current position being that you will work with a medical secretary, junior doctor(s), clinical psychologist, social worker, occupational therapist, and our nursing colleagues. To support our service user’s physical health, there is additionally a visiting GP, dentist, and well-established physical health team.
Alongside inpatient management, additional clinical activities include on-call work, access assessments to the service, and a range of additional activities dependent on negotiation with consultant colleagues and our new model of care.
Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 7000 members of staff, who deliver services from more than 160 locations.
We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond.
