Key Responsibilities
Individualized Support:
Develop and implement personalized care and support plans tailored to the individual’s needs, strengths, and goals.
Provide assistance with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks, as needed.
Offer strategies to help manage sensory sensitivities, emotional regulation, and executive functioning challenges.
Social and Emotional Support:
Foster a positive and trusting relationship by demonstrating patience, understanding, and empathy.
Encourage participation in social and recreational activities to build confidence and improve social skills.
Support emotional well-being through active listening and understanding individual triggers.
Skill Development:
Assist with developing life skills such as time management, organization, and problem-solving.
Provide educational support, including help with schoolwork, vocational training, or employment preparation.
Use visual aids, technology, and structured routines to enhance learning and engagement.
Advocacy and Communication:
Act as an advocate to ensure the individual's rights and preferences are respected.
Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and other professionals to coordinate care.
Assist in accessing community resources, programs, and support services.
Behavioral Support:
Identify and implement proactive strategies to manage challenging behaviors.
Collaborate with professionals (e.g., psychologists, therapists) to follow behavior support plans.
Ensure a calm and structured environment to minimize stress and anxiety.
Record-Keeping and Compliance:
Maintain accurate records of support provided, progress, and any incidents.
Adhere to organizational policies, legal requirements, and safeguarding standards.
Qualifications
Essential:
Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities, Autism, and ADHD (professional or personal).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
Basic understanding of sensory processing issues and behavior management strategies.
Commitment to promoting inclusivity and empowerment.
Desirable:
Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ in Health and Social Care, Level 2/3 in Autism or ADHD Awareness).
First Aid and Safeguarding training.
Knowledge of assistive technologies and therapeutic interventions.
